RACE IN Hellendoorn, 19-JUNE 2011
Summary

DNF out of 62 starters
Terrible weather during our practice plus still quite some pain in my rips forced me to withdraw from the race after qualifying. Due to the pointing system, this causes a significant drop in the championship standing, but main goal was always good and fun individual races because it was expected that I will miss some races.

Race Prep

After Valkenswaard, there was no time for practice and the bruised rips prevented other workout as well. Hope was to have a less challenging offroad section.

Qualifying

The weather didn't look good, but it was still dry when arriving at the track. The offroad was again quite sandy - not as bad as in Vakenswaard - but when dry still ok. Just with the start of the practices and qualifyings, rain started and it really peaked during our session. It rained cats and dogs! I brought an extra set of gloves and goggles to the practice to have both fresh after the free practice time for the qualifying part of the practice. I struggled in the offroad (compared to the fastest riders, many others had much more problems....), but all in all it was ok during the first laps. Then just before the qualifying started, I fell at the exit of the offroad, which broke the rhythm. I changed goggles and gloves - which wasn't very successful because it was pouring down while changing, so it really felt uncomfortable.
On my laps, I hardly had a free track, twice having someone blocking my way in the offroad due to crash or stalled engine.  My own time wasn't very good and after qualifying, the bike was full with sand everywhere, the leather suit and gloves as well, so I decided to save the bike from further harm and pull out of the race. It was simply not possible to get everything right for the first race.
